Hurricane Harvey Donations

The Greene County CERT Team is currently assisting the Greene County Sheriffs Office in accepting Donations for Hurricane Harvey in Texas. The Sheriffs Office has already delivered 3 trailers full with 2 more being stocked for another trip.

We are still accepting donations everyday at the Sheriffs Office. If no one is outside at the trailers and tents, feel free to drop them off inside the lobby of the Sheriffs Office!

Saturday 22 April Work Detail at Sheriffs Office Cancelled.

Due to the pending weather forecast, Saturdays work detail at the Sheriff’s Office to go through the trailer has been cancelled and will be re-scheduled at a later upcoming date. We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused in your scheduling as a valued CERT Member for Greene County!

New CERT Grant

Greene County CERT was recently awarded the following grant from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM):

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) is pleased to announce the allocation of the 2013 State Homeland Security Program Grant (CFDA # 97.067) from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Your locality has been allocated funding for:

Project Title: 2013 Citizen and Community Preparedness-School Staff Training Initiative
Federal Grant Allocation: $12,500.00
Recipient’s Required Cost Share/Match Amount: $0
Total Project: $12,500.00

This award allows for additional “Crisis Boxes” in schools, 2 joint training courses for school staff will be offered, 2 Basic CERT classes, and a mobile trailer and generator for supplies, events and incidents. The public’s involvement and interest in community safety, school safety, education, and outreach is what made this happen. This opportunity will not cost taxpayers anything. Thank all CERT members, the Public Safety Foundation of Greene County and other interested members of the public.
